A&D Course Proposals December 1998

Regarding IT Building contribution to the A&D education. Per Christiansson 14.12.1998 IT in Civil Engineering proposes the following courses for the semesters 6-10 with an approximate total duration of 4 modules.

Intelligent buildings and facility management (possibly already at semester 5)

To mediate knowledge on how IT can enhance methods, systems, and techniques for use, operation and maintenance, and administration of buildings. Subjects covered are for example; services and systems in the intelligent and responsive building, information networks in the intelligent building, user system interaction, intelligent building design, facility management, technical maintenance support

Computer Supported Collaborative Design and Teamwork

To mediate knowledge on how IT can be used to enhance collaborative design and teamwork. Subjects covered are for example; communication support tools and software, principles and techniques for computer supported collaboration, web-supported project work, multimedia human computer interface, using common digital works spaces, and distributed learning tools.

Product and Process Models in the Virtual Building

To mediate knowledge on how IT can be used to develop integrated digital models to describe different aspects of a building. Subjects covered are for example; knowledge representations in praxis, systems for experience capture and re-use, future digital models of the 'virtual building', conceptual modelling methods, Electronic trading, digital product information.
