Intranet Accesses

The Intranet is a closed Internet (with some accesses from outside - extranet)

Information can be protected through

Access rules (file/directory-protection, firewall filtering)
Cryptography
- Kerberos from MIT http://web.mit.edu/kerberos/www/index.html (symmetric encryption)
- PGP, Pretty Good Privacy, http://web.mit.edu/network/pgp.html. (Non-symmetric encryption with open key)
Within an Intranet the security is higher (thrusted channels)

In (Teleen Steven L, 1996, "Intranet Organization:Strategies for Managing Change". http://www.intranetjournal.com/library.html) Steven Teleen defines five distinct roles in Intranet content support

Web Adminitstrator (a new facilitator role not only technological skills required)
Webmaster (system adminstrator extensions)
Publishers (determines formal information to be published)
Editors
Authors

and the follwing Organizational roles:

Web (Policy) Council (Publishers shared by the Web Administrator)
Editorial Board (at the discretion of the Publishers)
Web Technical Committee
